Insurance

How Insurance Works Here

  • I do not accept insurance plans directly (including Medicare), but you can file out-of-network claims if your plan allows it.
  • IvyPay provides a statement containing the information needed for reimbursement claims.
  • Couples/marriage therapy is often excluded by plans, but some plans cover therapy when an insured individual has an appropriate mental health diagnosis.

Ask Your Insurer

  • What are my mental health service benefits?
  • What is my reimbursement amount for counseling with a PhD (doctoral level) licensed psychologist?
  • Is there a limit to the number of therapy sessions my plan covers?
  • What is the deductible for my out-of-network benefits, and what will I be reimbursed once it is met?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician before I can use out-of-network benefits for mental health care?
Important

Medicare

If you are a Medicare recipient, or expect to become age 65 while under care, please review this carefully and discuss it with me.

I have opted out of being a Medicare provider.

If you have Medicare (or are Medicare-eligible) and choose my services, you must agree in writing to be responsible for all fees. Please review the Medicare form on the Helpful Forms page.

Secondary insurance through an employer or another source may still allow out-of-network claims.

Note: Marital therapy, family therapy, and post-retirement counseling are not covered by Medicare.
